Washington (CNN) -- A bomb squad was examining the contents of a suspicious vehicle found Friday morning in the bushes on the side of a road near the Pentagon, a U.S. Park Police spokesman said.
It was unclear whether the vehicle contained any explosives or other suspicious materials, said Park Police Sgt. David Schlosser. The Arlington County Fire Department bomb squad was looking at the vehicle, he said.
The vehicle is linked to a man police took into custody overnight in Arlington National Cemetery, Schlosser said.
It's prompted police to shut down Route 27 between the cemetery and the Pentagon, as well as other roads in the area, while police and the bomb squad investigate.
"Right now, traffic in the Pentagon area is pretty messed up," Schlosser said.
The FBI is assisting in the investigation.
The man remains in the custody of Park Police, but Schlosser said he had no information on the man's identity or any pending charges against him.
