Baby allegedly killed in microwave oven died of extensive ‘thermal injuries,’ coroner says

รายงานระบุว่า นางคา หยาง ถูกควบคุมโดยไม่ได้รับอนุญาตให้ประกันตัว ฐานต้องสงสัยเป็นฆาตกรและทำร้ายร่างกายอันเป็นสาเหตุทำให้เด็กทารกถึงแก่ชีวิต โดยนางหยางถูกจับกุมสามเดือนหลังจากลูกสาวสุขภาพดีวัย 6 สัปดาห์ของเธอเสียชีวิตในบ้านเมื่อวันที่ 17 มี.ค.ที่ผ่านมา ซึ่งลูกสาวของเธอน่าจะเสียชีวิตเพราะอาการบาดเจ็บจากแผลไหม้จากเตาไมโครเวฟ ซึ่งกรณีที่มารดานำบุตรของตนไปใส่ไว้ในเตาไมโครเวฟเช่นนี้ เกิดขึ้นแล้วถึง 3 ครั้งในสหรัฐฯ
เจ้าหน้าที่ตำรวจเปิดเผยว่า ทารกคนดังกล่าวได้รับบาดเจ็บจากความร้อนสูง ส่วนสาเหตุที่ใช้เวลาการสอบสวนนานถึง 3 เดือน ก็เพราะเจ้าหน้าที่สอบสวนต้องระบุอย่างแม่นยำว่าอะไรคือสาเหตุที่ทำให้ทารกคนดังกล่าวเสียชีวิต โดยอ้างอิงจากคดีอื่น ๆ ที่มีการบาดเจ็บในลักษณะเดียวกัน ซึ่งไม่ค่อยเกิดขึ้นนัก อีกทั้งยังไม่ได้ประเมินว่าเธอมีอาการป่วยทางจิตหรือไม่ ซึ่งต้องปล่อยให้เป็นกระบวนการของศาลยุติธรรมที่จะเป็นผู้ตัดสิน ที่สำคัญคือไม่มีใครทราบว่าเกิดอะไรขึ้นในบ้านหลังนั้นนอกจากเธอและบุตรสาว
Baby allegedly killed in microwave oven died of extensive ‘thermal injuries,’ coroner says
A Sacramento baby who was allegedly killed by her mother in a microwave oven died of "extensive second-, third- and fourth-degree thermal injuries," coroner's officials confirmed Wednesday.
The Sacramento County coroner's office also officially listed the death of 6-week-old Mirabelle Thao-Lo as a homicide.
Mirabelle's mother, 29-year-old Ka Yang, was arrested Tuesday and charged with homicide. Investigators later said they believed Yang had burned Mirabelle in the microwave oven.
Mirabelle was found dead at her home on March 17. Firefighters were initially told an adult holding the baby had suffered a seizure and dropped her. Because of the severe burns the infant had on her body, however, firefighters called police.
Investigators spent the next three months investigating the cause of the unusual burns, and determined they were similar to documented cases in which children had been burned by microwaves.
"Based on that research and the autopsy results, detectives believe the injuries occurred as a result of a child being burned in a microwave," the Sacramento Police Department said in a statement.
Yang has three other children who neighbors said were taken into protective custody.
